Aleppo, Syria | What's It Like to Be a Tourist in Aleppo?

We visited Aleppo in June 2019, exploring its newer districts, sampling traditional sweets and ice cream, and buying local olive-oil soap. We then walked through the heavily damaged historic center and old souk, visited a traditional copperware shop, and saw the extensive destruction left by the conflict. Despite the devastation, we witnessed people rebuilding their homes, businesses, and city, which gave us a sense of hope.
