We set off with a dog and a heavily loaded sled into the frozen wilderness of northern Sweden, following snowmobile tracks for several hours to reach a remote, hiking-only cabin. After struggling through deep snow and steep terrain, we warmed the cabin, melted snow for water, cooked food, and discovered a dangerous fire hazard near one of the stoves. We spent the night there, dealt with the dog's barking, then replenished the firewood and hiked back through the snow toward Vuoggatjalme.
