America’s Highest City (an unexpected adventure)

We drove from Great Sand Dunes National Park to Leadville, America’s highest city, where we stayed with friends in a historic house that had a hidden trapdoor and a rumored tunnel to an old bank. We explored Leadville’s mining history and attempted stand-up paddleboarding on a high alpine lake. We then joined our friends for an overnight whitewater rafting trip down the Colorado River, camping along the river and enjoying rapids, swimming, meals, and campfire activities.
