We travel to Ghana to learn about its lively funeral traditions and seek invitations to witness them up close. We visit a fantasy coffin workshop, where we see coffins shaped like objects connected to people’s lives, and attend a family funeral with singing, dancing, mourning, and farewells. We then attend the funeral of a queen mother, witnessing traditional cultural displays and a large celebration that honors her life and community.
