We traveled to a remote village in the Peruvian Andes to stay with a local family and take part in the Q’eswachaka Festival, where the community rebuilds the last remaining Inca grass bridge. We harvested potatoes, learned how to twist grass into ropes, helped with the bridge construction, and joined the villagers for traditional food, drinks, ceremonies, music, and dancing. After several days of work, we watched the bridge take shape and finally crossed it above the river.
