Caught in Dangerous Protest in Haiti (lawless)

We explored Port-au-Prince during several days of intense protests, with burning tires blocking the streets and violence making it impossible to reach the beaches or travel to other parts of the country. We were stopped and confronted by police, nearly arrested, and later visited an abandoned hilltop restaurant where people were living and spoke with a local artist about insecurity, poverty, politics, and the lack of tourists. We also reflected on the difficult conditions Haitians face and their hopes for a safer, better future.
