Caught in Gunfire on the Streets of Tripoli

We traveled from Beirut to Tripoli to explore the city, meet local residents and learn how Lebanon’s economic crisis has affected their lives. While visiting the market and speaking with locals, we were caught in celebratory gunfire near buildings and families, taking shelter with the help of people who knew the area. We also discussed Tripoli’s history of conflict, the country’s worsening shortages and the risks of traveling there during the crisis.
