Day 1: Arriving in Honduras (not safe)

We arrived in Honduras and explored San Pedro Sula with a local guide, visiting neighborhoods devastated by hurricanes and areas controlled by rival gangs. We learned about the city’s poverty, corruption, violence, migration, and efforts to recover from flooding, then walked through the downtown market, historic train-track area, and wealthier neighborhoods. We also met local residents who described life in a city with a troubled reputation but welcoming people and signs of improving safety.
