Day 1: Arriving in Ukraine During War (24 hour train)

We travel by train from Budapest across the Hungarian-Ukrainian border to Kyiv during the war, passing through Lviv and experiencing strict security checks. In Kyiv, we visit areas damaged by airstrikes, see destroyed buildings and missile fragments, and observe sandbagged streets, checkpoints, fuel shortages, and a heavy military presence. We meet local residents and military personnel, visit a base monitoring Russian radio communications, and learn about the city’s defenses and the determination to protect Ukraine.
