We drive about 400 miles across Western Sahara, preparing enough water, food, and fuel to travel alone along an off-road track through a minefield. We carefully follow the marked safe route, deal with wind, rain, sand, rocky terrain, and concerns about landmines and the vehicle, while camping in the empty desert. We eventually meet a camel herder, reach the settlement of Bir Anzarane and a paved road, and safely leave the dangerous section.
