Entering America’s Most Religious Community

We begin in Manhattan’s modern Orthodox Jewish community, visiting a Jewish restaurant and learning about its traditions before traveling to the Hasidic neighborhood of South Williamsburg in Brooklyn. We explore the area with Abby Stein, observe its clothing, family life, food, synagogues, and restrictions on technology, and speak with residents and workers. We also discuss Abby’s experiences growing up in the community, her departure from it, and the differing views among Hasidic groups about Israel.
