Entering the North Korea / China Border Town

We travel to Dandong, China, a heavily militarized border city, to see how close we can get to North Korea, meet North Korean refugees, and learn about life in the region. We explore the Broken Bridge, take a boat along the border, visit markets and restaurants, and speak with locals while observing the intense surveillance and security. We also visit New Dandong and the Great Wall of China, where we view the barbed-wire border and reflect on the stark divide between the two countries.
