We left Kathmandu early in the morning and flew to Lukla, experiencing the short runway and dramatic landing at the high-altitude airport. We began trekking through villages, crossed a bouncy suspension bridge, saw yak-cow hybrids, and learned about the river fed by Everest's glaciers. We arrived at a village around 2,600 meters, where we rested and prepared for the seven-hour walk to Namche Bazaar the following day.
