We explored Magway, riding local pedal-powered transportation to a market where we interacted with residents and bought a traditional longyi before visiting a pagoda and watching monks collect alms. After returning to the boat, we learned more about Burmese culture, including how to tie a longyi and apply thanaka, while cruising farther up the Irrawaddy. We then visited Sale, a former oil boom town with colonial buildings, bought a painting, and continued toward Bagan.
