Exploring Saddam Hussein’s Abandoned Palace in Iraq

We traveled from Baghdad to Babylon in central Iraq and explored Saddam Hussein’s former palace, an enormous abandoned complex overlooking the ancient ruins. We walked through dark rooms, broken stairways, barbed wire, graffiti, and shattered glass before climbing to the rooftop for views of Babylon. We focused on the palace because there was still more of Babylon to explore before sunset.
