We explore Yemen beyond its war and political problems, discovering unexpected greenery, dramatic valleys, and untouched historical sites, including the ancient mud-brick buildings of Hadramaut and Shibam. We try distinctive Yemeni food such as hobbes, goat, chicken, rice, and sate, and learn about local dining customs. We also meet welcoming Yemeni people who offer us tea, food, and shelter, leaving us hopeful that the country may one day become a popular tourist destination.
