We travel from Washington, D.C., through Virginia and West Virginia to explore Green Bank and the National Radio Quiet Zone, where there is no cellphone service or internet. We meet Kate, explore abandoned buildings and local churches, hear her perform Appalachian music, and speak with residents about life without modern technology. We visit the massive Green Bank Telescope and meet astronomer Jay Lockman, who explains the observatory, the Lockman Hole, dark matter, and the universe.
