Exploring World's Strangest Border: A Country Inside a Country Inside a Country? Why?

We traveled through the UAE and Oman to investigate the unusual enclave of Madha, where an Omani territory surrounds Nahwa, a village belonging to the UAE. We met welcoming locals who guided us through the area, explained how historical tribal loyalties created the borders, and showed us the community’s farms, roads, and only restaurant. We crossed the borders repeatedly and explored Nahwa while learning how people in the region live peacefully together despite the unusual map.
