Fasting in America's Only Muslim Town (For Ramadan)

We visited Hamtramck and Dearborn during the first day of Ramadan, exploring Arab, Muslim, and other immigrant communities, local markets, bakeries, mosques, and restaurants. We learned about the area's history and met residents, including Dearborn's mayor, while experiencing the diversity of the two suburbs. After fasting for the day, we shared a Lebanese iftar, drank Yemeni coffee and tea, ate kanafeh, and finished the night at a hookah lounge.
