We explore Hong Kong on a Sunday, when more than 130,000 Filipinos—many of them domestic helpers—gather around Central on their day off. We see them setting up cardboard shelters, sharing Filipino food, playing games, painting nails, giving massages, singing karaoke, and spending time together. We also learn that they work in Hong Kong because they can earn far more than they would in the Philippines, while making sacrifices such as being separated from their families and sending most of their income home.
