I Arrived in the Strangest Country in Central Asia and Tried Legendary Samarkand Bread

We explored Uzbekistan's main cities—Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara—following the historic Silk Road and learning about their Islamic heritage, scholars, rulers, mosques, mausoleums, and madrasas. We visited landmarks including Registan Square, Shah-i-Zinda, and the Kalyan Minaret. We also watched Samarkand bakers prepare enormous loaves in tandoor ovens using a highly skilled traditional technique.
