I Attended the Roma Wedding Season in Bulgaria - Brides for Sale

We visited Sofia and explored a Roma neighborhood while learning about the community’s history, traditions, and reputation in Bulgaria. We then traveled to Stara Zagora to attend a traditional bride market, where families discussed marriage customs, dowries, tribal rules, and the prices associated with potential brides. We met several families, interviewed women preparing for the event, and observed the young men and women gathering in elaborate clothes and gold jewelry.
