I Broke Down in the Sahara Desert (Car Won't Start)

We begin our first long-distance off-road journey through the Mauritanian Sahara, stocking up on fuel and groceries before crossing dunes, dried riverbeds, and rocky terrain. After taking a wrong route and getting stuck in deep sand near a village, our Land Rover breaks down, but a local mechanic helps us repair it and shows us how to hot-wire the vehicle. We continue the journey despite the stressful breakdown and several damaged parts, grateful that the truck failed in the one place where help was available.
