I Crossed The Ocean On A 1-Star Rated Ferry

We travel to Alat, Azerbaijan, explore the town, meet friendly locals, buy food for the journey, and take a taxi to the ferry port. After waiting more than 20 hours among trucks from across the former Soviet Union, we board a heavily criticized ferry and cross the Caspian Sea to Kazakhstan. We find the voyage surprisingly smooth and comfortable before arriving in Aktau, where we visit the beach and meet local people.
