We traveled by car and wooden boat into the rainforest of rural Panama to spend 24 hours with an Emberá community of 24 families. We explored their simple lifestyle, learned about their agriculture, crafts, tattoos, clothing, fishing, education, and the challenges of accessing medical care, while sleeping in an open hut beside the river. In the morning, we drank coffee, watched traditional dances, and spoke with a community member about Emberá culture, family, and welcoming visitors.
