We begin our trip with a food tour and cultural exploration in Lahore before flying to Skardu and visiting remote villages, alpine lakes, Shigar, and the Hunza Valley. When military attacks erupt nearby and Pakistan’s airports close, we try to find a safe way out while traveling through the mountains toward Islamabad and Muzaffarabad. Along the way, we meet friendly locals, see dramatic landscapes and historic sites, cross a suspension bridge by zipline, and endure breakdowns, roadblocks, and a long mountain drive.
