We travel from Addis Ababa to Juba and then drive to the Mundari cattle camps, where we learn how deeply cattle are connected to their lives, wealth, and traditions. We observe the cattle gathering at sunset, milking, branding, grooming with ash and cow urine, and the community’s daily meals and social gatherings. We also witness traditional wrestling and learn about the conflicts and customs surrounding cattle ownership in South Sudan.
