I Met The Viral Coffin Dancers of Ghana

We met Benjamin Aidoo and his team of coffin dancers in Accra, Ghana, and learned how he started the group in 2003 before turning funeral processions into choreographed celebrations. We watched them perform, explored their costumes and custom coffins, and heard how their viral fame during COVID helped them promote employment and a different way of celebrating the dead. We ended our Ghana trip by reflecting on their unique perspective and the people and stories we encountered.
