I Slept In Kyrgyzstan's Worst Hotel

We drive across Kyrgyzstan from Bishkek toward the former Soviet uranium town of Mailuu-Suu, crossing rural areas and stopping in semi-abandoned villages. We explore deserted Soviet buildings, apartments, a Ukrainian cultural club, and mountain views while speaking with local residents about the region’s history. We spend the night in a run-down Soviet-era hotel, eat shorpo, and visit an abandoned café and a war memorial in Kalininskaya.
