I Spent $1,000 in World’s Most Expensive Country

We traveled through Switzerland from Italian-speaking Lugano to Lucerne, spending $1,000 on ordinary tourist activities including food, fuel, parking, a hotel, and shopping. We explored Lucerne, attended a local festival, sampled Swiss and international food, and experienced the city’s recycling culture. We also joined the world’s longest beer-drinking line and reached the $1,000 total in about 18 hours.
