I Traveled to an African Country Where Time Has Stopped

We explored Asmara, where Italian colonial architecture, classic cars, cinemas, cafés, and food make the city feel like a time capsule, while limited internet keeps much of life face-to-face. We learned about Eritrea’s history, culture, religious communities, political restrictions, and daily life before traveling to Massawa on the Red Sea. There, we visited the war-damaged old city and the Mosque of the Companions while reflecting on Eritrea’s isolation and future.
