We visited Yakutsk’s frozen fish market and learned how the city depends on fish from the Lena River, then joined local fishermen on the frozen river in temperatures as low as -47°C. We explored Yakut culture, its Indigenous language and traditions, and learned about the region’s diamond mines. We also experienced a traditional sauna, jumped into the snow, and played football in the extreme cold.
