I Visited the Loneliest Place in Europe

We traveled through Finnish Lapland, the least densely populated region in Europe, camping in temperatures as low as -20°C and learning how to manage life on the road in winter. We met Sámi reindeer herder Yanita, who showed us her work and explained why she feels connected to the community rather than lonely. We also visited Aki and Paul, a couple who left London to run a guest house and spa in Lapland, and discovered that the region’s isolation can bring purpose, fulfillment, and peace.
