We arrived in Ittoqqortoormiit, a tiny and highly isolated settlement on Greenland’s eastern coast, and explored its colorful buildings, grocery store, church, jail, and sled dogs. We spoke with local residents about life in the harsh environment and learned how they rely on the sea, ice, fishing, and hunting seals, walruses, polar bears, and musk ox. We also experienced the town’s quiet way of life and the challenges of reaching it.
