Incredible Elephant Sanctuary Experience - Chiang Mai, Thailand 2016

We traveled two hours into the jungle from Chiang Mai to visit the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, where we fed the elephants bananas and a mixture of rice, grains, bananas, and tamarind. We spent the day learning about and interacting with a multigenerational elephant family, giving them a mud bath, and washing them in the water. On the way home, we explained why we chose a sanctuary instead of riding elephants after learning about the mistreatment involved in elephant-riding operations.
