Insane Castle of Syria (Krak des Chevaliers)

We road-tripped from Damascus to Krak des Chevaliers and explored its maze-like rooms, architecture, moat, aqueduct, and views from the highest point. We learned about the castle’s history, including its role as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its medieval defenses, and the damage it suffered during the Syrian Civil War. We also saw the preserved bathrooms and other details of the thousand-year-old fortress, with plans to leave Syria the next day.
