Inside America's poorest region everyone forgot

We traveled through McDowell County, West Virginia, exploring abandoned coal towns, former mining sites, and communities that declined after the coal industry collapsed. We met residents who shared their memories of the region, including a local mayor working to restore Keystone and Don, who told us about his family, the loss of his twin brother, and how faith and caring for his stepdaughter helped him change his life. We also visited Bramble, Pocahontas, and other Appalachian communities while learning about the area's coal heritage and difficult present.
