We flew from the Solomon Islands to Nauru, explored the tiny island, and learned about its local life, language, limited infrastructure, and strong family connections. We visited its beaches, lagoon, World War II landmarks, and other natural areas while discussing the hot climate, expensive imported goods, Australian currency, and obesity rates. We also saw Nauru’s interest in Australian football and weightlifting and spoke with locals about their pride in returning home.
