We traveled to Oaxaca during Día de los Muertos and experienced how families prepare altars, decorate cemeteries with cempasúchil flowers, and welcome the spirits of their deceased relatives. We explored the city’s street food, trying memelas, tlayudas, and other dishes featured on Netflix. We then visited a nearby village to learn how mole negro is made by roasting and grinding chiles and other ingredients before adding chocolate.
