Inside Venezuela's Millionaire Neighbourhood (Abandoned Mansions)

We explored El Hatillo, a safe and picturesque colonial town filled with bakeries, cafés, ice cream shops, and upscale restaurants. We drove through La Lagunita and other wealthy areas of Caracas, seeing enormous mansions, abandoned properties, and an expensive country club. We also visited a viewpoint overlooking the city and stopped for coffee and cake in Las Mercedes, reflecting on the stark contrast between Venezuela’s wealthy neighborhoods and the poverty seen elsewhere.
