We explain the practicalities and safety of traveling through Iran, drawing on our journey of about 5,000 kilometers by train, bus, ferry, taxi, and hitchhiking. We discuss local customs, internet restrictions, currency, accommodation, transport, visas, and the need for cash, while emphasizing the hospitality and friendliness we experienced. We also visit southern islands such as Hormuz and include perspectives from Iranian locals and another traveler.
