We explore why Central Asia is one of the world’s most underrated regions, highlighting its Silk Road history, Islamic architecture, dramatic landscapes, welcoming people, nomadic traditions, affordable prices and delicious food. We share memories from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan, visiting places such as Astana, Samarkand, the Gates of Hell, Ala Archa National Park, Kabul and the Blue Mosque in Mazar-i-Sharif. We also describe the unique cultures, markets, cities and hospitality we experienced throughout the region.
