We explored Uzbekistan, learning about its history as the heart of Central Asia and the Silk Road, as well as its remarkably low prices and black-market exchange rates. We carried large stacks of cash and visited Samarkand, where we admired the ancient city's blue-tiled domes, mosques, mausoleums, and historic Registan Square.
