We explored central Lagos, visiting a crowded market built alongside the train tracks, meeting local vendors, learning about inflation and mobile cash services, and sampling local foods. We spoke with residents about safety, corruption, religion, unemployment, and the opportunities and chaos of living in Africa’s largest city. We also tried to visit wealthy Banana Island, experienced the city’s heavy traffic and a power cut, and ended the day feeling welcomed and generally safe.
