Living with a Family in a Mountain Village (5 Weeks)

We stayed for five weeks with a host family in Shibhon on Socotra’s Dixam Plateau, living off the grid and sharing their daily life among goats, mountains, and caves. We explored a canyon oasis and ancient cave homes, learned about the endemic dragonblood trees and their conservation, and tried local traditions, skincare, and food. We shared Ramadan meals with the family before leaving with a deep sense of loss and gratitude.
