On the Ground in Libya | What is it really like?

We traveled from Tripoli to Sabrata under police escort, passing damaged buildings and exploring remarkably well-preserved Roman ruins. We spoke with local people about life in Libya, the country’s hopes for peace and change, and the possibility of welcoming more tourists. Back in Tripoli, we walked through the old city and reflected on how safe and stable the trip felt compared with our expectations.
