Partying In Europe's Biggest Slum | Lunik Ix

We visited Lunik 9 in Košice, Slovakia, an area built as housing for the local Roma community that later deteriorated into severe poverty and poor living conditions. We spoke with residents, explored the apartment blocks and a more deprived settlement in the woods, and saw both extensive rubbish outside and clean, welcoming homes inside. Although we had been warned that the area was dangerous, we found the people friendly and left with mixed feelings about the poverty, the community’s resilience, and the treatment of Roma people in Europe.
