Pirates On Coast Of Venezuela (Venezuelan Fishing Industry)

We visited Higuerote, a coastal city in Venezuela, and explored its fishing port, where we learned about declining fishing activity, engine theft, piracy, and government control of fish sales. We spoke with local fishermen about exporting tahalí fish to China and Japan, which earns more than selling it locally. We also drove through areas where our guide warned us about robberies and returned to our hotel before preparing for another trip into the hills above the city.
