Rural Cuba is Desperate

We left Havana and traveled through Matanzas, Santa Clara, and Cienfuegos, meeting locals and exploring rural life, markets, roads, hotels, and coastal towns. We saw fuel shortages, long queues, severe economic hardship, crumbling infrastructure, and people relying on side jobs to survive. We also spoke with residents about how life has worsened, while experiencing Cuba’s striking scenery, hospitality, and old vehicles.
