Slavic Girl Meets Georgian Man

We travel through the Georgian mountains to Chiatura, explore the town, meet friendly locals, visit old Soviet buildings, and learn about its history and subtropical setting. We discover that the famous Soviet cable cars are closed for repairs, so we look around the abandoned cable-car stations and see the town’s architecture, Lenin and Stalin imagery, and a Soviet-era bus-station toilet. Along the way, we drink beer, buy scratch cards, and discuss whether Georgia belongs to Europe or Asia.
